When buying a property, is it the responsibility of the buyer or the seller to pay for the survey?

Who usually pays for the survey?

When buying a property, is it the responsibility of the buyer or the seller to pay for the survey?
The vast majority of the time around here the buyer pays for it if one is required.

Buyers often attempt to use the sellers old survey and that often works just fine.
Reply:seller. it was easy!
Reply:Buyer is responsible. Seller does not have to provide one. If the Buyer wants one, he can get one. If the buyer wants to negotiate for the Seller to pay for the survey, that can be done, just like negotiating for inclusion of the drapes or payment of closing costs on the mortgage.
Reply:Buyers do. It's for the buyer's protection. And you get to keep it. If the seller pays, the seller gets to keep it.
Reply:The buyer. All costs in a sale are negotiable, however.
Reply:Buyer.
Reply:can be either, usually a negotiated item
