How can I get a copy of my property survey?

Hi

I had a survey done when I purchased my house in 2001. I need it now and can't find it. How do I obtain a copy? Do I have pay to get another survey done?

The house is in Bexar County Texas.

Thanks!

How can I get a copy of my property survey?
I would bet the survey company has a copy of it on file.

Also, you may want to check with the assessor's office in your county.

Oh--another place to check is with your mortage company. They probably kept a copy on file too.
Reply:Call the surveyor. If you don't know who it is , call the title company or attorney who handled the closing. They can tell you who did it because they paid him. They may even have a copy of the survey.
Reply:contact the people that did it they may still have it on file
Reply:The survey company keeps record copies of surveys back for a hundred years.

It was also probably attached to your deed when filed; check the clerk's office.
Reply:If you want a certified survey that you can use as a legal document, go to your local (usual a county division) zoning commission. Tell them exactally what you want, it'll cost a few bucks, bring cash. And be prepared, they are usually rude, so be patient and polite. You get more flies with honey...
Reply:You can go to the title company who may have a copy on file or you can go to the survey company who did the original survey and they may charge a small fee for a copy. A survey is generally good for 10 years as long as there have been no changes to the property.
Reply:Both the title company that closed your transaction and the lender should have a copy.
